Walking With The Wounded
Walking With The Wounded was set up in 2010 to support all veterans with physical, mental or social injury back into work by gaining the skills and qualifications necessary to develop new careers outside the military, re-integrate into society and provide long-term security for themselves and their families.
Our primary focus is employment but the charity’s programmes also focus on key issues facing veterans such as homelessness, veterans in police custody and mental injury.
In conjunction with individual fundraising events, Walking With The Wounded also promotes awareness of the charity, our wounded community and the challenges faced by all those living with disability by undertaking high-profile expeditions with wounded veterans and serving soldiers that are entirely funded by corporate sponsorship. In 2015 we are undertaking our next expedition, building on those to the North Pole (2011), Mount Everest (2012) and the South Pole (2013). Corporate sponsorships allow private donations such as yours to go exclusively towards the work we do helping support our wounded veterans.
At a time when so many charities are asking for people's generosity, we are hugely grateful for any donations which are made, fundraising activities undertaken or partnerships offered.
Why not follow the example of the Once I’ve Gone team and sign up to the Cumbrian Challenge? Join us for a breath-taking weekend in the beautiful Lake District for one of two challenging walks, the ‘Tough’ or the ‘Tougher’. Your team of four will have the opportunity to meet and race against some of the incredible men and women who your efforts have enabled us to support, as well as members of our expedition teams. Every team that signs up will support a wounded veteran into work.
